Abstract

The transformation of the world had brought communication into a complex system. This research focused on understanding communication from the perspective of reading proficiency and communicative competence. To be more specific, this research aimed to find a correlational between reading proficiency and communicative competence in English as L2. This research was conducted at a private university in Yogyakarta. Thirty students participated in this research. The survey design by employing a questionnaire was unutilized to collect the data. The quantitative method with the correlational study was employed to analyze the data collected. The result indicated that there is a strong connection between reading proficiency and communicative competence. Thus, reading proficiency and communicative competence are connected.
