About the Journal
Focus and Scope
PPREMISE: Journal of English Education focuses and welcomes researcher in both EFL and ESL context to publish professional or conceptual articles, and research articles formed in qualitative and quantitative study in the area of the following scopes:
- Analysis on English Literatures in English Education Context
- Discourse Analysis in English Education context
- ELT Material Development (K-12 and Higher Education)
- English Applied linguistics
- English for Specific Purposes in higher education
- English for Young Learners (K-12) and Adult (Higher Education)
- English Language Teaching in the four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing
- English Language Testing and Evaluation
- Second Language Acquisition
- Translations in English Education
It allows any writer to submit up to 10-15 pages or equivalent with 3000 to 5000 words in range (IMRAD). It applies APA style in all articles submitted to this journal. More than 5000 to 7000 words are preferable, excluding abstract, bioprofile, acknowledgment, and references.
Peer Review Process
Submitted papers are evaluated by anonymous referees by double-blind peer review for contribution, originality, relevance, and presentation. The Editor shall inform you of the review results as soon as possible, hopefully between 1 - 2 months. Please note that there may be paper submissions to PREMISE Journal, and the review process can take up to 3 months.
Manuscripts submitted to our journal undergo a similarity check during the submission process. Authors are responsible for conducting this check independently, and we recommend using Turnitin or other similar applications for this purpose.
Language used in this journal is English.
Publication Frequency
This journal was published in April and October (2012-2021). This was until Volume 10 No 2, October 2021. The current frequency of publication is three times a year, in February, June, and October, since Volume 11, No. 1, February 2022. This journal also provides a publication for proceedings. It is officially published in March and September every year. February-edition is valid for articles published between February-May. June edition is valid for articles published between June-September, and October edition is valid for articles published between October-January. Minimal articles published in each number is 10 articles while maximum articles in each number is 26 articles. Total articles in a volume are 78 articles per year.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

About Premise: Journal of English Education and Applied Linguistics
Publication History:
Premise was first published in December 2011 under an official letter from LIPI (SK No. 0005.006/JI.3.2/SK.ISSN/2011.12, dated December 5, 2011). Initially, the journal was available only in print, with five editions released in December 2011. From 2012 onwards, it adopted a biannual publication schedule, releasing issues in April and October.
In 2015, Premise expanded to include an online version, officially recognized under LIPI's decree (SK No. 0005.2442482X/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2015.02, dated February 18, 2015). Since then, both the print and online versions have been published regularly in April and October.
On November 4, 2021, the journal was approved to increase its publication frequency to three issues annually, released in February, June, and October.
Indexing Information:
Premise has been indexed by various reputable databases, including:
- SINTA (Science and Technology Index): Currently classified under SINTA 3, as per official decree No. B/1796/E.5.2/KI.02.00/20 (December 30, 2020), with an extension under decree No. 204/E/KPT/2022 (October 3, 2022). This classification is valid until Volume 15, Issue 2 (2026).

The journal was indexed by DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) from July 25, 2017, but is currently excluded due to a copyright issue.
