Correction and Retraction Policy

Bioedukasi is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. Post-publication changes are made only when justified by the nature and significance of the issue identified. All corrections and retractions are handled transparently and in accordance with publication ethics principles, including the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections

A correction is issued when an error or omission in a published article requires formal amendment but does not warrant retraction. Corrections may address errors made by authors or during the editorial and production process. The notice must clearly describe the correction and explain its effect, if any, on the article's interpretation or conclusions.

The correction notice is made publicly available and linked to the original article. The original publication remains part of the scholarly record, and any changes to the article are documented transparently.

2. Retractions

A retraction may be issued when an article's findings are unreliable because of misconduct or honest error, when substantial plagiarism or redundant publication is established, when research was conducted or reported unethically, or when other serious violations of publication ethics undermine the article's validity.

Retractions may be initiated by the authors, editors, or publisher, as appropriate. The journal will assess the available evidence and provide relevant authors with an opportunity to respond. The retraction notice will explain the reason for the retraction and identify the party responsible for the decision. Any disagreement among authors regarding the retraction will be documented where relevant.

The retracted article will normally remain accessible, clearly marked as retracted, with a prominent link to the retraction notice. Removal or redaction may be considered in exceptional circumstances, such as legal requirements or serious risks to personal safety. Bibliographic information will be retained wherever possible to preserve the scholarly record.

3. Publisher's Notes

A Publisher's Note may be issued to document significant production or publication errors attributable to the publisher, particularly those affecting article metadata, such as the title or author information, or the accurate interpretation of the published content.

Where necessary, the online article may be corrected or replaced, provided that the changes are transparently documented and the original publication details are preserved. Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the meaning, metadata, or scholarly integrity of an article may be corrected without a separate notice, at the journal's discretion.

4. Editorial Assessment and Transparency

All cases are assessed individually according to the seriousness of the issue, the available evidence, and the potential effect on the scholarly record. Where appropriate, the journal may seek clarification from authors, consult independent experts, or contact the relevant institution.

The journal aims to ensure that correction and retraction decisions are fair, documented, and independent of commercial or personal interests. Concerns that require further investigation may be handled under the journal's Allegations of Misconduct policy.
