Authorship Criteria and Contributorship
Bioedukasi requires authorship to reflect substantial scholarly contributions and accountability for the published work. All authors must meet the criteria below and accurately disclose their contributions.
1. Authorship Criteria
To qualify as an author, an individual must:
-
Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design, data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the work.
-
Draft the manuscript or critically revise it for important intellectual content.
-
Approve the final version for publication.
-
Accept accountability for their contribution and cooperate in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of the work.
All four criteria must be met.
2. Author Contributions
Every manuscript must include an Author Contributions Statement describing each author's actual contribution. Authors may use CRediT terminology or a clear narrative description. All authors must approve the statement.
Example: Author A: Conceptualisation, methodology, and drafting. Author B: Data collection, analysis, and critical revision. All authors approved the final manuscript.
For single-author manuscripts, the sole author should describe their contributions accurately.
3. Author Approval and Order
All authors must approve the manuscript submission, author list, author order, contribution statement, corresponding author designation, and final version for publication.
Author order should be agreed upon collectively based on actual contributions and relevant disciplinary conventions. Equal-contribution statements may be included when accurate and agreed upon by the authors.
4. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author serves as the main contact between the authors and the journal and is responsible for coordinating submissions, declarations, editorial correspondence, revisions, and co-author approvals.
This role does not confer authority to disregard co-authors' approval or change authorship without following the journal's procedures.
5. Non-Author Contributors
Individuals who do not meet all authorship criteria should be acknowledged, with their permission. Funding, general supervision, administrative support, routine technical assistance, translation, or proofreading alone does not qualify an individual for authorship.
Professional writing or editorial assistance must be disclosed where applicable. Funding and competing interests must be declared separately.
6. Unacceptable Authorship Practices
The journal does not permit gift or honorary authorship, guest authorship, ghost authorship, authorship trading, coercion, or misrepresentation of contributions.
AI systems cannot be listed as authors. Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all manuscript content. Requirements for AI use and disclosure are provided in the AI Usage Policy.
7. Changes to Authorship
Requests to add or remove an author, change author order, or change the corresponding author must be submitted to the editorial office with a justification, an updated contribution statement where applicable, and written agreement from all affected authors.
All changes require editorial assessment. Changes after publication, if approved, will be handled under the journal's Corrections policy.
8. Authorship Disagreements
Authors should resolve authorship disputes before submission. The journal may request supporting documentation and suspend editorial processing while a dispute is assessed.
Unresolved disputes may be referred to the relevant institution or competent body. Concerns involving misconduct or published articles will be handled under the journal's Integrity Investigations and Corrections policies.
