Abstract

Cultural heritage is a vital component of a society's identity and collective memory; its sustainability requires both legal protection and the active involvement of the younger generation. This article aims to analyze the relationship and integration between historical awareness and legal awareness among the youth regarding cultural heritage preservation. The study employs a literature review method, specifically an integrative literature review approach. Data sources include national and international journal articles, books, and regulations concerning cultural heritage. The analysis involves the identification, categorization, interpretation, comparison, and thematic synthesis of relevant literature. The findings indicate that historical awareness plays a role in fostering an understanding of the meaning, value, identity, and connection young people have with cultural heritage. Meanwhile, legal awareness reinforces the understanding of rights, obligations, prohibitions, and responsibilities regarding protection and preservation. Integrating these two forms of awareness can shape a younger generation that not only comprehends the historical value of cultural heritage but also demonstrates law-abiding behavior and actively participates in its preservation. Therefore, education concerning history, law, and cultural heritage needs to be developed through an interdisciplinary approach.
