Abstract.
Solving mathematical problems in derivative topics, are still considered as a difficult matter for the students, because it’s related to many mathematical concepts. The purpose of this research is to analyze students’ error in solving derivative’s problem in Calculus. This research was conducted by using quantitative approach with descriptive method. Population and sample in this research were 70 students that took Calculus Course. The data was collected by using test and interview. The test was arrange based on mathematical problem solving indicators. The interview is conducted to support the answer sheet’s data. The analysis of students answer sheets are based on Newmann`s Error Analysis (NEA). The result is that the errors based on the NEA category which are mostly made by students are Encoding, Process Skill, dan Transformation. So that, lecturers should minimize the error by giving the non-routine and HOTS problems.
