Abstract
The rapid development of knowledge and technology in the 21st century brings significant challenges to education. Learning media used in learning follow technological developments and must help students understand the concepts being studied using contexts that are close to students. Especially in mathematics education, the approach that can be used is the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach which has the characteristic of using a context close to students to understand mathematical concepts. In addition, in the 21st century, critical thinking skills are fundamental for students to face problems in the realities of life. This is not only for ordinary students but also for students with special needs. Therefore, this study aims to design a learning-based media (RME) that can develop the critical thinking skills of deaf students. The results of this research are the successful development of learning media products in the form of Math E-Comic with an ethnomathematics context, namely the Folklore of Joko Kendil and Si Gundul, to develop critical thinking skills of deaf students. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the treasures of knowledge in mathematics education and can be a reference for further researchers to develop learning media with similar topics.
