Abstract
Individuals with a history of NSSI tend to experience greater difficulties in emotion regulation compared to individuals without a history of NSSI. This study aimed to examine the influence of family functioning and self-compassion on emotion regulation difficulties among emerging adults with a history of NSSI in Karawang Regency. This research employed a quantitative method using multiple linear regression analysis, involving 204 participants obtained through convenience sampling technique. Data were collected using the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale Short Form (DERS-SF), McMaster Family Assessment Device-General Functioning Subscale (FAD-GF), and Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), and analyzed using SPSS version 26. The results showed that partially, family functioning did not have a significant effect on emotion regulation among emerging adults with a history of NSSI, whereas self-compassion had a significant effect on emotion regulation among emerging adults with a history of NSSI. Simultaneously, family functioning and self-compassion contributed 19.1% to emotion regulation difficulties among emerging adults with a history of NSSI in Karawang Regency
