Abstract


Isu mengenai perbedaan gender menjadi topik yang masih hangat dieksplorasi baik topik kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada materi garis dan sudut antara siswa laki-laki dan perempuan. Pemilihan subjek penelitian dilakukan dengan mempertimbangkan kemampuan matematika dari hasil evaluasi sebelumnya dan mempertimbangkan kemampuan komunikasi. Metode penelitian kualitatif dipilih untuk memberikan deskripsi yang komprehensif mengenai perbedaan antara kemampuan pemecahan masalah ditinjau dari perbedaan gender. Data diambil dengan wawancara terstruktur dan ditranskripsikan. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif dimana hasil wawancara dikaitkan dengan aspek dan indikator pemecahan masalah Polya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah pada siswa laki-laki lebih baik dari siswa perempuan. Hal ini terlihat ketika siswa perempuan belum memahami masalah tetapi sudah mampu mengetahui keterkaitan antar topik dan melaksanakan operasi matematis. Hal berbeda ditunjukkan oleh siswa laki-laki sudah mampu memahami masalah mengetahui keterkaitan antar topik dan melakukan operasi hitung matematis dengan tepat.
