Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika sangat penting untuk kehidupan sehari-hari kita karena kita tahu bahwa proses pemecahan masalah matematika adalah proses berpikir yang mengarah pada hasil yang baru dan bermanfaat. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan matematika adalah kecemasan matematika. Solusi suatu masalah tergantung pada bagaimana masalah terjadi, sehingga diperlukan penelitian yang lebih mendalam mengenai kaitan antara kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan kecemasan matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pemetaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa kelas VIII SMP di Banjarbaru. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei dengan subjek terdiri dari 376 siswa kelas VIII SMP yang berasal dari 15 sekolah yang ditentukan dengan stratified random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan angket kecemasan matematika. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analisis profil. Hasil pemetaan menunjukkan bahwa masih ada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika dan kecemasan matematika rata-rata sekolah di Kota Banjarbaru yang tidak sesuai dengan status akreditasi dan teori yang sudah ada sebelumnya.
