Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital teaching module based on ethnomathematics of fishing communities as a dynamic tool for improving students' algebraic reasoning skills. The study began with the importance of integrating local wisdom in mathematics learning to improve students' algebraic reasoning. The development of a digital open module was carried out using a flipbook maker. The digital teaching module was developed using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate) model development research design approach. The ethnomathematics of fishing communities were explored to identify mathematical patterns that could be used as a context for algebraic learning. The subjects of the study were students of SMP NU 09 Rowosari Kendal who interacted with the module in a technology-based learning environment. The research instruments included expert questionnaire validation, teacher response questionnaire, student response questionnaire, and algebraic reasoning ability test. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative methods to measure the effectiveness of the module in improving students' algebraic reasoning skills. The results of the study showed that the percentage of material expert validation scores was 81.60% with a very valid category while the percentage of media expert validation scores was 82.45% with a very valid category. Based on the results of the student response questionnaire, an average of 80.25% was obtained and the teacher's response was 86.00% with a very practical category. The implementation of learning assisted by digital teaching modules showed classical completeness exceeding 75% so digital teaching modules were effective in improving students' algebraic reasoning.
